EXCELLENCE: Nigerian Student Sets Record for Highest GPA in US School’s History

Science Park High School at Newark in New Jersey, United States of America (USA), has honoured a Nigerian graduate, Achunike Okafor for his extraordinary performance.



OKAFOR is reported to have received an International Baccalaureate diploma with a record-shattering 4.625 grade-point average from the school.


His GPA is the highest among Newark’s 2,649 graduates in the Class of 2023, and highest-ever for the city public school district.


It earned him more than 40 scholarship offers, many from the nation’s top universities.


The 18-year-old plans to attend Harvard University to pursue a neuroscience degree.


With an outstanding 4.625 GPA, The Honorable NAACP President Deborah Smith Gregory told RLS Media that Okafor's remarkable achievements have earned him over 40 full scholarship offers from prestigious universities nationwide.


According to President Deborah Smith Gregory, Okafor's academic journey at Science Park High School has been nothing short of extraordinary.


As a recipient of the International Baccalaureate diploma, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to achieving excellence in his studies.


In addition to his exceptional GPA, Okafor has received recognition for his excellent writing skills, impactful research projects, and contributions to the community.


His well-rounded achievements reflect his passion for learning and his commitment to positively impacting society.
