Senator Nora Dadut, Reno Omokri, Fani Kayode, Among 32 Additional Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of 32 additional ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation. This comes only days after he submitted an initial batch of three nominees.

In two separate letters addressed to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President requested the expedited consideration and confirmation of 15 career ambassadors and 17 non-career ambassadors.

The nomination list features four women among the career ambassadorial nominees and six women among the non-career nominees.

Posting Expectations

Upon Senate confirmation, the new nominees are expected to be deployed to countries with which Nigeria maintains strategic bilateral relationships, including:

China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, UAE, Qatar, South Africa, and Kenya, as well as permanent missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union.

Last week, the President submitted an initial list of three nominees—Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun)—who are being considered for postings to the United Kingdom, the United States, or France.

President Tinubu noted that additional ambassadorial nominations will be announced in due course.
