Enyimba FC Assumes Summit Of NPFL Log

Former African champions, Enyimba FC are now leaders of the Nigeria Professional football league after eight matches played so far.

The Aba Elephants took the lead in the 16th minute, thanks to an own goal from after Nasarawa United defender Abdullahi Abubakar.

Chinedu Ohanachom restored parity for Nasarawa United in the 20th minutes after meeting Katoh Haggai’s pinpoint cross.

Enyimba regained their lead in the 32nd minute, Cyril Olisema scored the from the penalty spot after Sodiq Abdulrazak brought down Anayo Iwuala in the box.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the second half of the game as Anthony Omaka was shown straight red for using his elbow on Chinedu Ohanachom.

The Solid Miners almost scored the equaliser late in the game, but Chinedu Ohanachum headed a cross against the post with goalkeeper John Noble beaten.

Enyimba held on for the win that saw them move to the top of the table with 18 points from eight games, while Nasarawa United slipped to 6th
