Release Plateau Central Senatorial Result Now!-APC Tells INEC

The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State has called s on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to release the results of the Senatorial election for Plateau Central Senatorial District.

The call is coming more than 7 days after the conduct of the polls on the 25 February 2023.

The Party believes Diket Plang who contested for the Plateau central Senatorial seat under the platofrm of the APC won the elections with as much as over 4000 ( Four Thousand) votes.

APC State Publicity Secretary Sylvanus Namang in a press statement on Saturday said it was surprising that INEC is hesitating to announce the result "even after a recount which still saw him maintaining the lead as the figures still tallied with that of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) results.

The party said it "condemns the desperation and insinuation by the Peoples Democratic Party in the state which has forcefully occupied the INEC premises at Pankshin and the headquarters in Jos for the past one week with a view to hoodwinking the electoral umpire into announcing its candidate as the winner of the Plateau Central Senatorial District election".

It went further to state that "This has built avoidable tension in the state which INEC should not allow itself to be a party to any breakdown of law and order which is what the PDP in the state is instigating".

We call for the beefing up of security around INEC facilities in the affected areas prelude to the immediate announcement of the results as collated by INEC.

Mr. Namang said the APC as a law abiding party would not want to join force with the PDP which is presently demonstrating at the Rantya Road headquarters of INEC which amounts to blackmail and irresponsibility of the highest order.
