The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, is set to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2, 2026, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Mutfwang announced his resignation in a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area.

In the letter, he stated that his decision to withdraw from the party took immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the governor wrote. He explained that the move was informed by prevailing political realities and his commitment to purposeful leadership, clear direction, and effective service delivery, which, he said, necessitated seeking an alternative political platform.

The governor expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him with the opportunity to pursue his political aspirations and thanked party members and supporters for their loyalty and support over the years.

According to him, his decision to join the APC is a strategic step taken in the best interest of Plateau State.

He noted that aligning the state more closely with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government would enhance development efforts and accelerate the delivery of democratic dividends to citizens.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and sustainable development across the state, emphasizing that overcoming divisions remains essential to collective progress.

The formal registration and presentation of the APC membership card to the governor will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield. Afterward, he is expected to visit the Plateau State APC Secretariat at Kalwa House, Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, where he will meet with party leaders and members.

The development marks a significant political shift in Plateau State’s political landscape.
