The Nigeria Police Force has reopened the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, restoring access to a faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.

According to Mohammed, both the secretariat and the PDP presidential campaign office, Legacy House in Maitama, were unsealed in compliance with valid court orders.

He added that control of the properties has now been handed over to the Mohammed-led National Working Committee, with Samuel Anyanwu recognised as National Secretary.

Mohammed praised the police for their professionalism and commitment to upholding the rule of law.

“This action clearly demonstrates respect for constitutional order and due process,” he stated.

He, however, warned that the party would not tolerate any form of obstruction, disruption, or breach of peace at the secretariat.

“All individuals and groups must operate within the confines of the law, as security agencies are prepared to act against any violators,” he said.

He noted that the development should reassure party members that the recent internal crisis has been effectively addressed.

Mohammed also called on aggrieved members to set aside their differences and embrace unity in the overall interest of the party.

He expressed appreciation to PDP leaders and stakeholders, particularly Nyesom Wike, describing his support as invaluable.

“Together, we move forward — stronger, more united, and committed to our shared vision,” he said.

The police had initially sealed both the secretariat and Legacy House in November 2025 following clashes between rival factions at Wadata Plaza.

Meanwhile, a rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki has condemned the unsealing, describing it as an act of contempt.

Spokesman for the group, Ini Ememobong, argued that the court judgment referenced by the police is currently under appeal, with all parties duly informed.

“By this action, they have interfered with the subject matter of the case, which could render the Court of Appeal’s judgment ineffective,” he said.

Ememobong further described it as troubling that those responsible for enforcing the law were allegedly disregarding it.

He also suggested that the move pointed to possible partisan interference by the police.

He urged party members to remain calm and avoid any actions that could disrupt public order.

According to him, appropriate legal measures would be taken to safeguard the rights of legitimate PDP members.

“The public should remain hopeful that this difficult moment will pass and democratic principles will ultimately prevail,” he said.

“Though pain may endure for a time, joy will come in the morning. Let us remain steadfast in hope,” Ememobong added.
