Update: Court of Appeal To Deliver Ruling on Plateau Local Govt. Elections Today

The Court of Appeal, Jos division has adjourned to 5pm, Friday October 9th to continue hearing in the appeal brought before it by the peoples democratic party, PDP, challenging the Judgment delivered at the Plateau State High Court, presided over by, Hon. Justice, I. Kunda.



Hon. Justice, I. Kunda had on Wednesday, dismissed a suit filed by the party challenging it’s exclusion by the Plateau state Independent Electoral Commission from participating in tomorrow's (Saturday) Local Government election.


The PDP in filing its Appeal had applied for Accelerated hearing of the matter, also asked for an Order of Injunction, restraining the conduct of the Plateau State Local Government elections, pending the determination of the Appeal.


When the matter was came up for hearing on Friday, counsel to the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), Garba Pwul (SAN), had sought for an adjournment to enable it react to two processes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is challenging the Judgment delivered at the Plateau State High Court, presided over by, Hon. Justice, I. Kunda.


The Judges of the court of appeal however declined his request but rather gave the respondent (PLASIEC) two hours to file their counter affidavits.


The ruling for the Order of Injunction, restraining the conduct of the Plateau State Local Government elections will be delivered today no matter how late if the assurances by the judges is anything to go by
