Suspected Herders Kill Over 25 Following Attack In Apa, Benue State

Over 16 bodies have so far been recovered from last night attack as armed herdsmen launch unprovoked attack on the people of Naka, in Gwer - West local government area of Benue.

Naka town, the headquarters of Gwer West local government which seems to be safest, housing fifteen council communities displaced by armed herdsmen is now been attacked.
The attack started about 7pm on Sunday night when residents were preparing to go to bed, when the marauding armed militia struck with heavy gun shots, leaving deaths and injuries on its trails as many scampers for safety.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were armed with guns and other dangerous weapons shooting residents indiscriminately while several others were abducted.
The Benue State Police Command has confirmed fresh attacks in Naka and Apa communities.
In a statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP. Udeme Edet, said, that tactical units have already been dispatched to the affected areas and are actively managing the situation.
