The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has hailed a Supreme Court ruling that affirms David Mark as its National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, describing the judgment as a decisive victory for the rule of law and party legitimacy.

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the apex court’s unanimous decision validates its leadership structure and confirms that the earlier de-recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was “fundamentally faulty.”
The ADC praised the five-member panel of the Supreme Court of Nigeria for what it described as a judgment that strengthens Nigeria’s judiciary and democratic system. According to the party, the ruling puts to rest internal disputes and underscores that democratic governance must be guided by law rather than political interference.
Despite celebrating the verdict, the ADC warned that the decision does not mark the end of its struggle against what it termed “interference and attempts to weaken opposition voices.” The party urged its members and supporters nationwide to remain vigilant in defending democracy.
“Democracy is not secured by a single courtroom victory,” the statement noted, emphasizing the need for continuous engagement and resistance against any actions that could undermine the will of the people.
The party also renewed its call for the resignation of INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, arguing that the circumstances surrounding the leadership dispute raise serious concerns about the commission’s neutrality and judgment.
ADC further demanded that INEC immediately restore recognition of the David Mark-led leadership across its official platforms and communication channels.
Reaffirming its commitment to national development, the party said it would continue to advocate policies aimed at tackling insecurity, reducing the cost of living, and creating jobs, while positioning itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
