A new generation of changemakers is emerging in following the successful Youth Servant Leadership Roundtable and Media Launch hosted by the Sentinel Oasis of Love Care Initiative (SOLCI).

The inaugural event, held at the Ornate Pavilion Event Centre, brought together over 60 young leaders from 10 wards within Jos North Local Government Area, united in a mission to promote empathy-driven, inclusive, and transformational leadership at the grassroots.

The event marked the public unveiling of SOLCI’s vision and digital engagement strategy, positioning the faith-based nonprofit as a catalyst for youth leadership in Nigeria. Co-founded by Mr. Haroun Audu, a lawyer and communications consultant, and Mrs. Marie Audu, a community development advocate, SOLCI is focused on equipping youth aged 18–30 with the mindset and tools needed to lead through service, unity, and civic responsibility across cultural and religious lines.

In his keynote address titled “How Exemplary Leadership Can Change the World,” Mr. Haroun Audu emphasized the urgency of nurturing servant leadership among Nigeria’s youth. He introduced SOLCI’s five foundational pillars: start small, listen deeply, build bridges, pursue self-development, and live for a greater cause.

The address challenged attendees to take personal responsibility for reversing societal decline through humble and effective leadership.

A vibrant roundtable session followed, moderated by Mr. Charles Bulus Jonathan, and featured expert panelists from the fields of sociology, ICT, economics, and leadership development. Key themes included the importance of inclusive governance, the power of religious and cultural diversity, youth empowerment through mentorship, and the positive use of digital platforms for community storytelling and unity.

The day’s interactive segment, led by Rev. Williams Burga of Harvest Leadership Community in Africa (HaLCiA), encouraged participants to embrace leadership as a call to serve, not as a pursuit of status or personal gain. His session resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom shared commitments to lead with integrity and compassion in their communities.

The roundtable earned praise from local leaders, including Hon. Daniel Chishak, Chairman of PLASIEC and Chairman of the occasion, who highlighted the importance of patience and perseverance on the path to lasting leadership. Community stakeholders also applauded SOLCI’s focus on collaboration, values-based leadership, and long-term mentorship models for sustainable change.

The event concluded with the launch of SOLCI’s digital tools and platforms, designed to amplify youth voices and connect changemakers across wards. Outcomes of the event include stronger civic dialogue, renewed awareness of servant leadership principles, and the creation of a foundation for ongoing mentorship and collaboration.

As SOLCI’s Board Secretary, Keran Danjan, noted, “This is not just an event—it’s the beginning of a movement toward a more inclusive and servant-led society in Jos and beyond.”
