The Plateau Government has donated 100 motorcycles, raincoats and rainboots to the various security agencies in the state.
Presenting the items on Thursday in Jos, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, said that the gesture was aimed at supporting the security agencies towards tackling the current security challenges in some parts of the state.
Governor Mutfwang expressed government’s committed toward the security of lives and property of every citizen in the state.
He maintained that the gesture was the first phase of the intervention by the State government, adding that more interventions were underway.
The governor said that the state had invested massively in technology to tackle all forms of security challenges confronting the state.
He, however, warned that any personnel caught using the motorcycle for personal purpose would be sanctioned.
Earlier, Mr Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government, said that the security agencies to receive the motorcycles and other items included the military, Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Operation Rainbow, among others.
Speaking of on behalf of the security agencies, Mr Alexander Barunde, the Commandant of NSCDC in the state, thanked the governor for the gesture.
Mr. Barunde, assured the governor of their support and promised that the items would be put to proper use toward improving the security situation in the state
