Plateau Gov-Elect, Caleb Mutfwang Receives Certificate Of Return, Speaks On Possible Litigation

The governor-elect of the Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, his Deputy, Josephine Piyo have been presented with their certificates of return



The INEC National Commissioner North Central, Mr. Mohammed Haruna presented the certificates of return to the governor-elect and his deputy alongside the 24 member-elect of the State house of Assembly at the INEC headquarters in Plateau state on Thursday.


Resident Electoral commissioner, INEC Plateau State, Tersoo Agundu described the process that produced Mr. Mutfwang as winner of the election as transparent, fair and inclusive.


He said the presentation of the certificates of return inaugurates a new chapter "that beacons on all of you who receives their certificates of return today to fulfill their promise to the people".


The Governor-elect, Caleb Mutfwang in his remarks commended INEC in Plateau state for conducting itself above board.


Mutfwang said, "I want to Place on record that INEC on the Plateau has acquitted it self honorably. While it is true that along the line there were some ad hoc staff who made effort to sabotage the process, overall the leadership of INEC of plateau state stood it ground, conducted itself on the plateau honorably and that is why we are here today"


The governor -elect also had some words for his fellow contestants for the Governorship seat in Plateau state.


Asked to react to the likelihood of his facing litigation as a result of the election, the Governor-elect called on those he referred to as brothers, "who contested with me that it is time to look at the interest of Plateau. I will like to appeal to them to accept this conclusion and lets us move forward together in the interest of brotherhood."


Mr. Mutfwang alluded to the fact that from the onset there was going to be a looser and a winner.


With the inauguration less than 60 days away, Mr. Mutfwang said he is using this transition period to position himself appropriately so that from May 29th when he is sworn-in he will hit the ground running.


He assured Plateau people that he is determined not to disappoint them emphasizing that he will do his best to make sure his promises to the people of the state are kept
