Impeachment: Gov. Lalong and Prophet El-Buba Trade words Over Impeachment of Assembly Speaker

The controversy surrounding the removal of the Speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly took an interesting turn at the Annual Thanksgiving Service of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) held at the Jesus Power Crusaders International Assembly Jos on Saturday.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo was in attendance.

It all began when Prophet Isa El- Buba took to the podium to lead the segment of National Prayers for the nation.

After commending the Vice President for his Visit to the state and for spear heading the social intervention Programme of the Federal government, the cleric then turned to the State Governor to make an appeal on the current debacle rocking the state house of Assembly.

Prophest Isa El Buba asked the governor to intervene in Thursday's removal of the speaker of the state house of assembly in the interest of peace and to avoid plunging the state into another round of crisis.

The cleric was of the opinion that at a time the state is experiencing somme relative calm, everything should be done to ensure that peace is consolidated and encouraged.

Governor Lalong while responding to a submission by Prophet Isa El-Buba Lalong said

"the House of Assembly is an autonomous body that runs its affairs independently. You will recall that I was the first Governor in Nigeria to sign into law the Autonomy Bill when it was passed. I did that because of my passion for democratic growth and the strengthening of the Institution. Having served as a Speaker who was also impeached, I have no hand in the running of the House, not to talk of the change of its leadership. They run their affairs and do as they wish based on their rules and the law".

The Governor also advised the citizens particularly the leaders of thought to always verify information and also engage before taking a position on any matter such as the impeachment story that has been widely misrepresented.

He advised those who have concerns to reach out to the members and get the complete picture before reaching conclusions.

He called for prayers and support for those in authority.
