A Kano Senior Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Abdullahi Abubakar, to four months imprisonment for stealing 25 litres of vegetable oil worth N31,000.
Abubakar, who lives in Dorayi Quarters, Kano, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Binta Ahmad-Mohammad, however gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N15,000.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Elias Ekainu told the court that the convict committed the offence on May 16, 2022 at Brigade Quarters, Kano.
Ekainu said that Abubakar stole the complainant’s 25 litres of vegetable oil from his shop situated in the Brigade Quarters, Kano.
`During the course of investigation, he said, the vegetable oil was found in Abubakar’s possession.
Ekainu said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
