Bandits Attack Nigeria Defence Academy Kill Two Soldiers
The Permanent Site of the Nigeria Defence Academy was attacked early Tuesday morning by suspected bandits.
The bandits successfully killed two officers and then abducted one other officer.
Unconfirmed report say the body of the Kidnap officer has been found.
According to witnesses, the bandits came in large numbers at about 1am on Tuesday.
Aside from the officers killed and kidnapped, some others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the NDA hospital.
The bandits who came in a vehicle were said to have passed through the security gate into the academy, disguised in military uniforms, after which they proceeded to the officers’ quarters.
On arrival, they began shooting sporadically and in the process, killed two officers (a Major and a Squadron Leader), and later on, took another Major away through the nearby bush inside the academy.
Recently, there were intelligence reports that Boko Haram flags were sighted at the Afaka Forest close to NDA and Kaduna Airport.
The Afaka campus of NDA was officially opened in February 2007. The old site in Angwan Kanawa in Kaduna town is now for Postgraduate and short service cadets.
