Apprehension As Operation Safe Haven Kill Six Kidnappers in Mangu, Plateau State

Six suspected kidnappers have been killed in Mangu Local government area of Plateau State by men of the Operation Safe Haven.


Military Information Officer of the OPSH, Major Ishaku Gajo Takwa in a press statement released on Tuesday in Jos said, men of the OPSH alongside a team with the Divisional Police Headquarters at Mangu had responded to a distress call from the Nigerian Police Intelligence Response Team that bandits had attacked the team and took away their weapons.


The criminals were immediately trailed and neutralised after a gun duel with the troops.


Some members of the Police IRT were killed. The statement didn't give an exact number.


However it stated that the bodies of the IRT members who lost their lives and that of the 6 criminal gangs were recovered.


Three AK 47 rifles belonging to IRT team earlier taken away by the criminals were also recovered.

Commending the troops for their swift response, the Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Ibrahim Ali has charged the troops to continue the collaborative efforts and sustain the tempo until criminal elements are wiped out of plateau state.


He further directed the troops to dominate all suspected criminal hideouts and deny them freedom of action.


There have been reports, videos and unverifiable information on several platforms in the last few days on the movement of bandits going through Pankshin, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Axis.
